All strapped in and ready to go!!!

We're back! We got home from our trip to Chicago and West Lafayette last Saturday. We had a great time visiting with friends and family, and Ellie handled everything pretty well if I do say so myself. Well, the trip up there was a bit challenging, to say the least... We left around 6 am and got there around 5:45 pm. It usually takes around 8 hours, but this time it was a bit longer. We had to stop 6 times. Eric (who would never stop if it was up to him, really was a trooper and now a self-proclaimed fan of The Barrel... Who would have seen that coming? Having a baby really changes things :) )Ellie barely slept the whole time, she was wide-eyed and looking around the whole ride. Sometimes I don't get how I can be SO sleepy and she is just SO wide-eyed. Anyway, we made it there! The next morning we headed to Chicago with Eric's family for a wedding. One of Eric's best friends Michael got married to the sweetest girl, Laura. Eric and Michael grew up together and have been best buds forever. It was neat to see all of Eric's friends get to come together. We stayed in a historic hotel in downtown called the Congress plaza hotel.

This was the view from our window. Pretty incredible, huh?
One thing I love about traveling is having the chance to see how other people live in other places. It always amazes me to travel to a big city like Chicago and see how people's lives are so different than our slow life here in Alabama! From not owning a car because you walk or ride the train to seeing thousands of people on your way to work, it is so crazy to think that peope live so differently. I guess being in a huge city is a good reminder that the world does not revolve around me and is much bigger than I often think. Well, anyway, the rehersal dinner was at a place called Magiano's and was to die for! I LOVE food, cooking, and eating, and this was the place to do it. I was looking at the menu and all the selections looked so good, I was like, how will I ever pick??? Well, lucky for me, it was family style... which means I didn't have to!

The next day was the wedding, and it was beautiful. The reception was in a ball room at the hotel and it was one of the most interesting archectural rooms I'd ever seen. So beautiful! Everything was so nice and we are SO happy for Laura and Michael. Thank you SO much for including us on your special day!

With the bride and groom (and sleeping Ellie.) Doesn't the diaper bag strap really complete the outfit?

> Ellie and I with a lot of Eric's HS friends. They are all so sweet and have taken me in as if I were a "townie" myself! It was so great to see all of you!!!!

Mr. & Mrs. Kmec!

Livin' it up

Ellie and I at the wedding. So sad it's blurry...

This is our dear friend Kelsey. She grew up with Eric and then was Eric and I's "matchmaker" at camp.

I always have so much fun with you babe!

The Gold Room. Pretty spectacular, huh?

Father's Day 2010

Happy first Father's day babe! Eric and Ellie spending some QT on Sunday morning.

Before heading back to IN, we spent some time at Navy Pier.

Ellie LOVED these crazy mirrors!

Ellie loving some Baby Bjorn time. (Oh, and yes, in case you were wondering, Ellie is in her PJ's, you see, I let Eric pick out what she wore since it was Father's Day and all, and this is his favorite!)
Chicago is so pretty, clean, and well-kept. And, they have beautiful plants everywhere.

The Ness family.

Well, this post is getting a tad long, so I guess this is it. Come back soon to see the rest of our trip!

See you soon!

Well, tomorrow morning we hit the road. Eric, Ellie, and I are heading up north to visit Eric's family and go to Chicago for a wedding. One of Eric's closest friends, Michael, is getting married. We will be gone for about a week and a half. Ellie will get to meet lots of friends and family that she hasn't met yet. We will be sure to take lots of pics!

Also, Ellie had her 4 month check up this week.

Weight: 13 lbs. 14 oz. (60% percentile)

Height: 25 1/4

Her weight percentile went down a lot, but the doctor says that it is fine, that we should just start feeding her cereal soon. We fed it to her once, she was pretty into it! We will wait till we get back from our trip to really start giving it to her. Also, we got Ellie a " Praise Baby" DVD and she loves it. It is just good praise music and scenes of nature and other pictures, but she loves it! It is so sweet to see her sit in her little chair and watch it. One last thing... the other night I made this and it was really good, super easy, and good for you (lots of veggies). This is one of my favorite blogs to read and I thought I'd share it with you. Hope you have a good week and we'll be back with lots of stories and pictures from our trip!

4 Months

Sweet Ellie,
I really think that the biggest changes in you have come this past month. Even looking at pictures, you look so much older than you did last month! This is just another reminder of how quick time passes and how fast you are growing! You are such a little sunshine in our home! You smile non-stop and we spend hours on end trying to get those sweet little laughs out of you. You are always talking and making the sweetest cooing sounds. Sometimes I think you get frustrated because you want so bad to be able to move yourself around, but, not yet sweet girl. You are becoming more and more interested in toys and love to have things in your hands, and then they go straight to your mouth. You are still a really good eater and are eating about five times a day. You are still sleeping about ten hours a night (which your daddy and I greatly appreciate...) One of my favorite things is to come get you out of your crib after a nap. Usually, your straining your neck to look out the glass door, looking to see who is coming to get you! It is hard to write about how much we love you- I don't feel like these words could do it justice. However, we try our best to value each day with you and never go a day without thanking God for you. We love you sweet girl.

You have grown SO much! 1 month to 4 months. It is amazing how much you have grown this past month alone!

Daddy teaching you to ride Harvey. Poor Harvey, I think Ellie weighs more than he does!

Summer is here!

Summer has officially begun in the Ness household! Eric is finished with school and is home for the summer! Ellie and I are SO happy to have him around all day with us. It still doesn't seem real yet! This is one of the big perks of his job! So, we have begun getting into a good summer routine. It is amazing to wake up and know that we will get to spend the entire day together.
We took Ellie to the pool for the 1st time and she really loved it. The water was really cold, but she didn't mind at all. She loves swimming with her daddy and watching all of the crazy kids running around. She finds them very entertaining! After some swimming, she takes a nap in her stroller in the shade (which is kind of a miracle because she is not a big napper) while Eric and I get to relax, visit, or read. Thanks Grammy and Papaw for helping us get the pool membership! I know we will have so much fun there and create tons of good memories there this summer.

Our little strawberry!

Relaxing in her stroller poolside!
